Craig Naughton - Available Mon, Wed, Thurs and Fri

Brief History -

My name is Craig Naughton, I have been playing drums and percussion professionaly at a high level now for twenty years. I have played for many of Australia's top bands, probably most famously the James Muller trio, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Dale Barlow qaurtet. My father was a musician and my fathers father was a musician so I gained a lot of knowledge being immersed in music twenty four hours a day at home, but I have also studied extensively at the sydney conservatorium where I learned with David Jones, Bary Stewart and later on with Andrew Gander. I have also studied composition and am a prolific composer and have my first solo album just about to be finished, featuring some of sydney best musicians, which will be released later this year. Currently I am gigging with various incarnations of Steve Hunters nine lives band as well as with the Subterraneans, the George Nikolopoulos band, in Pieces, Darryl Abberhart and many other top freelance rock, Jazz and fusion bands around Sydney. When I'm not playing drums or writing music, I am producing albums in my studio, keeping fit or reading books.

My Educational Philosophy -

I have always maintained that as a teacher it is my role is to find a persons strengths and help them to nuture those, whatever they may be. Lessons can be as serious as AMEB, advanced techniques for the modern drummer by Jim Chapin, the Garry Chaffee books or may be as fun as just playing songs that you've been grooving along to. I use backing tracks, all the latest books, as well as my personal handouts developed over years of trial and error..

My Musical Interests-

Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin, Miles Davis, Weather Report, Deep Purple, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, James Brown, Wayne Krantz, Jimmy Smith, Oscar Peterson .....too many to mention.

Styles Of Music Taught -

Jazz, Rock, Funk, Latin, Jazz Rock, Fusion, Reggae, Soul, Hip Hop, Big Band, small group, Blues, classical, Metal..
